STAFF APPRAISER

SUMMARY: Make physical inspections of residential, agricultural, and commercial property for purposes of updating municipal assessment records. Measure and photograph buildings, classify property according to land use, and interact professionally with property owners during inspections. Perform computer functions such as data entry, transferring digital photographs, working with Excel spreadsheets, and typing email correspondence.

We provide a company vehicle, travel expenses, equipment, and company clothing. Appraisers who learn the details of the business through field work may be eligible for promotion to a Project Management position.

Note: Extensive travel throughout the State of Wisconsin is required, including frequent overnight stays during the week. Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions as the seasons change.

JOB STATUS: Full Time, Salary Non-Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:
• A high school diploma or GED is required. College Degree or Associates Degree preferred.
• Requires Wisconsin Dept. of Revenue certification as Assessment Technician at a minimum, or ability to obtain certification within 6 weeks.
• Experience in real estate or a related field is desirable but not required.
• Computer experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to take legible notes and make scale drawings of measured dimensions.
• Confidence to approach property owners and good communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to maintain several simultaneous projects in various stages of completion.
• A valid driver’s license and background check required.

Requires ability to: Take physical measurements and make scale drawings of buildings and structures, walk on uneven terrain, bend or stoop to take measurements, and climb stairs in order to view physical or structural features of properties. Ability to learn to understand legal descriptions, plat maps and appraisal manuals. Develop and maintain good working relationships with municipal staff and the general public. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

PROJECT TECHNICIAN
SUMMARY: Work as an assistant to the Project Manager, performing assessment work on a number of assigned municipalities and working with municipal officials and county staff during the annual assessment cycle. Perform a variety of detailed, responsible and technical functions utilizing mass appraisal software and CADD drawing software. Also perform routine clerical and administrative functions such as drafting correspondence, scheduling appointments, organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files, and providing information to callers.

JOB STATUS: Full Time, Hourly

QUALIFICATIONS:
• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Requires Wisconsin Dept. of Revenue certification as Assessment Technician, or ability to obtain certification within 4 months.
• Strong customer service skills
• Experience and competency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Mathematical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain several simultaneous projects in various stages of completion.
• Experience in real estate or a related field is desirable but not required.
• A background check is required.

Requires ability to: Learn and use appraisal software, learn to read and understand legal descriptions, plat maps and appraisal manuals. Develop and maintain good working relationships with municipal staff and the general public. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Prioritize work and coordinate multiple activities to meet deadlines.
